Taher Doroudi, the deputy head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Center, said walking and increasing physical activities is important for the pilgrims to get ready for the Hajj rituals.

He noted that the weather conditions and temperatures are different in Mecca and Medina than those in Iran and there needs to be efforts for preparing the body for physical activity while on the Hajj trip.

He said the high temperatures in the two holy cities may cause some pilgrims to suffer from heatstroke.

Doroudi advised pilgrims to drink plenty of water, wear light-colored clothing and use sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the official said the necessary medical examinations that all pilgrims need to go before going the Hajj pilgrimage have concluded.

As for the health conditions of Iranian Umrah pilgrims, whose first batch arrived in Saudi Arabia a few days ago, he said they have faced no health problems so far except for one pilgrim who was hospitalized for a minor issue.

Earlier, head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization said that more than 83,000 Iranians will depart for Saudi Arabia to observe the Hajj rituals this year.

Seyed Abbas Hosseini added that the process of obtaining visas for Iranian pilgrims has started.

Every year, except for the years that the number of pilgrims was reduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, nearly three million Muslims from around the world gather in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for the annual Hajj.
